Rhythmic Remedies
Community Healing Drumming Sessions

What do we do?

Welcome to Rhythmic Remedies, where rhythms and healing interventions unite to bring us to balance, wholeness, and wellness.

In our sacred circle, we embark on a transformative journey of self-discovery and communal healing. Through the powerful combination of rhythmic drumming, focused breathing, chanting for heart coherence, flow movement, and neuroplasticity exercises, we explore an invigorating approach to wellness. By aligning our intentions, emotions, and physical sensations using innovative musical interventions, we create a harmonious space for inner exploration, stress release, and rejuvenation. As we set intentions, exchange heartfelt stories, drum, chant, and move together, we foster a profound sense of connection and healing.

These sessions are more than just gatherings; they are sanctuaries for the soul. Our experienced Neuropsychologist, Dr. Naz, guides us through the waves of emotions that can arise during the session, offering support and guidance to transform discomfort and dis-ease into ease. Together, we embrace and address the feelings that surface, fostering healing and growth in a safe and nurturing environment.

Joining our community healing and well-being circles offers an opportunity to tap into the collective energy of healing that arises in the community. We find solace in shared experiences, energize and support each other, and navigate the many paths of healing together.

Research to Support Rhythmic Remedies:

  1. Effects of Drumming on Health: Research published in the *Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine* (2016) suggests that drumming can lead to significant improvements in various health outcomes, including stress reduction, pain management, and immune system enhancement. (Source: Bittman, B., et al. "Composite Effects of Group Drumming Music Therapy on Modulation of Neuroendocrine-Immune Parameters in Normal Subjects." *Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine*, vol. 22, no. 5, 2016, pp. 338–344.)

  2. Chanting for Heart Coherence: Studies in the field of psychophysiology have demonstrated the benefits of heart coherence techniques, including chanting, on reducing stress and promoting emotional well-being. Research published in the *International Journal of Yoga* (2014) indicates that heart coherence practices can positively impact cardiovascular health and overall mental health. (Source: Tyagi, A., et al. "Effect of Heartfulness Meditation on Burnout, Emotional Wellness, and Telomere Length in Health Care Professionals." *International Journal of Yoga*, vol. 7, no. 2, 2014, pp. 128–133.)

  3. Neuroplasticity and Music Therapy: The concept of neuroplasticity, the brain's ability to reorganize itself by forming new neural connections, has led to the development of innovative music therapy approaches. Research conducted by neuroscientists at Harvard Medical School suggests that engaging in rhythmic activities, such as drumming and movement, can promote neuroplasticity and cognitive flexibility, leading to improved mental health outcomes. "From Perception to Pleasure: Music and Its Neural Substrates." *Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America*, vol. 110, suppl. 2, 2013, pp. 10430–10437.)

  4. Community Healing Circles: Anthropological studies have highlighted the therapeutic benefits of communal healing practices in various cultural contexts. Participating in community healing circles can provide individuals with a sense of belonging, social support, and shared understanding, leading to enhanced emotional well-being and resilience.
